Our Digital Certificates of Authenticity

Tagsmart pioneered the use of transferable physical Certificates. Our Digital Certificates are issued as counterparts to physical Certificates.; each Digital Certificate is signed using the globally accepted ESIGN standard, is stored in the work’s provenance record and carries multiple security features. Additionally, from June 2022 each Digital Certificate will also be filed on the Polygon blockchain.

Linked to our digital provenance platform - which any registered Certificate holder can access free of charge - our Digital Certificates provide access to Tagsmart Verification services, enabling verification of the current registered keeper of the work record.

Respected by the industry, each Tagsmart Digital Certificate links to its physical Counterpart, which is signed by the artist or by the authority who issued it.

KEY FEATURES

Security

Each Digital Certificate is presented as a read-only, digitally signed PDF. The keeper of the artwork record can request a reissue at any time: this invalidates any previous digital Certificate but does not change the status of its physical Counterpart unless required. Revoking or replacing a physical Certificate will re-generate its digital counterpart.

The Artwork

Core artwork information and image, supplied by the artist or a third-party specifically authorised by the artist to issue the Certificate on their behalf, is featured along with selected artwork information. A thumbnail of the associated physical Certificate is also included.

Signature & Hash

Every Digital Certificate is electronically signed by the Tagsmart Registrar who confirms that it faithfully represents the physical Certificate issued by the artist or by the third-party specifically authorised by the artist. A hash of the associated physical Certificate ID is included.

Blockchain filing

Digital Certificates are currently uploaded to the work’s provenance record. From June 2022, each Digital Certificate will also be linked with a record on the Polygon blockchain.
