Tagsmart Weekly Discovery: Lauren Baker, The Queen of Skulls

Lauren Baker is a British contemporary multidisciplinary artist who exhibits internationally.
She is born in 1982, from Middlesbrough, UK and she currently lives and works in London.


Her works investigate on the fragility of life, energy fields, life after death and other dimensions. She uses neon lights to transmit positive messages and life mantras to raise the vibration of love and connection to the world.

Lauren has created installations at the V&A museum, Tate Britain and ran a workshop at Tate Modern.

Her passion for animals and conservation brought her to become the ambassador for Save Wild Tigers and through her artwork, she raised over £50k for charity.

Recent works involve neon, infinity mirror, and kinetic sculpture.


The limited edition series include painted and embellished human and animal resin skulls and sculpted animal head.

Lauren’s inspiration comes from her time spent in the Peruvian Amazon surrounded by dense vegetation and wildlife. She then joined a mosaic street-art project in Brazil and developed her mosaic skills in Venice (Orsoni).

Lauren’s current exhibition: ‘Musings on Mortality’ will be on until the 5th of November at Lauren Baker Gallery, Covent Garden.
