Maria Positano uses elements associated with rituals and ceremonies, including fire, burned wood, metal and wax, to create physical artefacts and project meaning onto symbolic objects.
Her practice reflects on the self and the notion of being human, exploring the individual's engagement with and immersive experience of the objects she creates.
Maria was nominated for the 2019 Signature Art Prize, powered by DegreeArt and certified by Tagsmart. The exhibition is on at Trinity Art Gallery until 31 March.
Maria will be taking part in a group show at the Take Courage Gallery, on 28 March. You can also see her work at the Clyde and Co Collection until September 2019.
