Slovenian artist Sabina Šinko playfully overlays traditional Chinese ink with watercolours to build striking and yet sensitive portraits.
Sabina’s work is rooted in an emotional reaction to the global tragedies of the refugee crisis and ecological disaster. In a nod towards surrealism, Sabina’s canvas and paper works explore the uncanny merging of natural and artificial, of human and animal.
Sabina had solo shows at Bannfy Center Lendava, Slovenia in 2018 and at Puppet Theater Maribor, Slovenia in 2017.
In 2016 she was awarded 3rd place at the International Painting Ex Tempore Gronjan, Croatia.
In addition to her fine art practice, Sabina also works as a set and a puppet designer in theatre companies in Slovenia and abroad.
